About Andy

Andy is 29 years old, from Dublin.  As a child Andy was never really interested or involved in sport or exercise.  As a result he has always struggled with his weight right into his mid 20’s, peaking at 17.5 Stone/111kg in 2003.

A year backpacking in Australia inspired Andy to finally do something about his weight and through exercising and controlling his diet he managed to lose over 5 Stone/30kg in a year. Returning home to Ireland a new man in 2005 he soon discovered he had a great talent for helping and inspiring people to get into shape and it became clear that his future lay in the Health & Fitness industry.  In 2006 he qualified from the National Training Centre as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer and quickly established himself a very successful Personal Training Business in Dublin.  This was a quick and dramatic turnaround in his life and career having previously worked in Product Management and HR positions.

"I'm a firm believer in people maximising their potential, up until relatively recently I certainly wasn't coming close to making the most of my potential and since getting into shape I can't believe the difference it's made to my life.  For people who maybe are perhaps in a similar position to how I was a few years ago, I would really recommend that they do something about it.  You've got to commit to changing your life, it wont be easy but with the right help anyone can do it.  You've got to make a clear decision to alter your eating and drinking habits permanently and include some form of exercise or physical activity into your weekly routine.  If you don't know where to start or have tried dieting before and failed, speak to an exercise professional and/or Doctor before you start out.  If you want financial advice you'd consult a financial advisor, if your car wasn't running correctly you'd speak to a mechanic so it makes sense to consult a Fitness Instructor, Nutritionist, Personal Trainer, Weight Loss Group etc... if you wish to get into shape.  Like any industry there are good and bad exercise professionals so if your not happy with the one your using or don't click with them personally - go to someone else.  Don't use it as an excuse to give up.  Most Personal Trainers for example, offer a free assessment or free trial at the start so you've nothing to lose by trying a few trainers and choosing the one you feel you'll get the best results with.  For people who perhaps feel embarrassed, some Personal Trainers can even visit you in your own home at a time convenient to you or will train you in a private gym.

It does take commitment, hard work, dedication and consistency to change your life, but make a firm decision to maximise your potential and be determined to be the best you can be!"
